Our Core Values
COMMUNITY COLLABORATION AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Jennifer and the Miyosiwin Team work closely with First Nations Communities and Organizations by providing services and health based knowledge to community members. First Nations University of Canada played a big role in Jennifer’s approach to entrepreneurship as an Indigenous person and how cultural values can work hand in hand.
Jennifer is the recipient of the 2022 National Capital Corporations Aboriginal Association – Indigenous Women Entrepreneur, 2021 Mazda Local Legends Award, 2021 Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan (WESK) – Indigenous Entrepreneur Award, as well as the 2020 National Futurpreneur – Grit Award. She was listed as a finalist for the 2020 Paragon Community Involvement Award and in 2017, she was named one of CBC Saskatchewan’s Future 40 under 40.
SALON HISTORY
On April 4, 2018 the neighbouring business caught fire and Miyosiwin Salon Spa was forced to close their doors due to extensive water and smoke damage that effected the business. During that time they were able to renovated their space and on April 4, 2019, exactly one year anniversary to the fire they celebrated their Grand Re-opening. To celebrate this day, they had a fundraiser event to raise money for the firemen’s charities. The same firemen that saved their building one year ago were in attendance with fire truck on sight. The Miyosiwin Salon Spa team raised $1750 for the Burn Fund, and Muscular Dystrophy.
In September 2021, Miyosiwin Salon Spa relocated to 434 Broad Street. Due to the struggles that all business faced after the Pandemic it was the best decision for the relocation. The team took to the road again as a traveling salon and spa during the brief five month closure for renovations at their new location. They re-opened their doors February 2021.
